THE Scottish Government is being urged to take action on the notorious A737 trunk road.
A number of proposals were put forward at a road safety meeting on September 27, including plans for a roundabout and slip road at the Howwood Junction.
Local councillors are calling for the changes to be enforced from Kilbarchan through to Lochwinnoch.
The stretch of road has seen a number of high-profile accidents, including fatalities, since its construction almost 25 years ago.
The section at Kilbarchan, known locally as Brands Hatch, has been the cause of particular concern.
The road is said to carry 25,000 vehicles a day, making it one of the busiest in Scotland and is comparable with parts of the A9.
Community councils and other local groups from Kilbarchan, Howwood and Lochwinnoch aired their concerns at the meeting with Transport Scotland, which is responsible for the upkeep and improvements to the road.
