THE skies of Scotland came alive at the weekend as the country marked Guy Fawkes Night with a bang.

Originally a remembrance of the foiling of the infamous Gunpowder Plot, Scots across the country celebrated the survival of Parliament and King James I with coloured aerial explosions.

Paisley's skyline tripped the light fantastic on Saturday, as residents were treated not just to a spectacular firework display, but also peformances from local bands and artists include Matthew Gibb, Lisa Kowalski, The Turkey Nuts and The Vanities.

Tens of thousands of Glaswegians enjoyed the sight of two tonnes of fireworks exploding in the Autumn air.
