Celtic's has the highest yearly wage bill in Scotland, according to a new survey, with the club forking out more than double Rangers on its average first-team salary.

The Parkhead club pays its first-team players an average wage of £717,860 per year, according to Sporting Intelligence's Global Sports Salaries Survey.

Rangers came second in the list, paying its first-team players an average of £316,888 each.

Aberdeen, Dundee and Inverness complete the top five, paying £134,670, £86,890 and £61,837 respectively.

According to the report, Celtic's average first-team salary is almost 17 times the average salary of Hamilton, the lowest paid team in the Scottish Premiership, with the highest paid players receiving more than the entire squads at Motherwell, Inverness, Kilmarnock, Ross County, St Johnstone, Partick Thistle and Hamilton.

Celtic declined to comment on its players salaries.

The survey also claimed that most clubs in the Scottish Premiership pay less than £100,000 a year to its players.
