The first official trailer for the movie, which stars Emma Watson and Dan Stevens in the lead roles, was released on Monday and was viewed 127.6 million times in one day.

It beat the record set by Fifty Shades Darker (114 million views) for the most views across all digital platforms — including YouTube, Facebook and Instagram — in the first day of its release.

Beauty And The Beast, a remake of the classic 1991 Disney animation, sees Emma take on the role of Belle and Dan as the Beast, while Luke Evans will portray villain Gaston.

Beloved characters Lumiere, Cogsworth and Mrs Potts will be voiced by Ewan McGregor, Sir Ian McKellen and Emma Thompson respectively.

The film is due to be released in UK cinemas in March.
