THE Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended three road traffic collisions in North Ayrshire over the space of four days.

Five people, including one infant were taken to hospital following an accident on the B778 at Kilwinning at 12.35pm on Thursday, November 10.

At the same time, there was an accident on the B780 at Dalry, which resulted in a man being taken to hospital.

Another man was injured in a separate collision just before 5.45am on Monday, November 14 on the A760 at Kilbirnie.

Station Manager Derek Davidson said: “Two of the collisions which took place both happened at exactly the same time on North Ayrshire roads which indicates to me that there may have been adverse weather conditions and drivers may have faced more challenging risks at that time.

“The incident on the B780 resulted in an adult male being transported to hospital for assessment and the event on the B778 resulted in five casualties being involved – four adults and one infant with two of those adults and the infant being taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.

“The collision in South Ayrshire involved a single car landing on its side with the adult male casualty being trapped in the driver’s seat. This event required fire crews to access the rear of the vehicle to provide paramedics with the opportunity to assess the driver’s condition before extrication took place and the driver was removed to Ayr Hospital with wrist and hip injuries.

“The incident on the A760 also involved an adult male casualty who had been removed to hospital by paramedics before arrival of the operational crews.”
