LOCAL people and businesses are being invited to give their views about a plan to build a new bridge over the Clyde.

It will link the communities of Renfrew, Yoker and Clydebank and is being funded through the £1.1billion City Deal.

The bridge is part of the Clyde Waterfront and Renfrew Riverside project which will include new roads and cycle routes providing improved access to employment, education, health and leisure locations.

People will also have a chance to have their say about a second City Deal project for Renfrewshire.

The Glasgow Airport Investment Area will result in improved connections between the Westway, Inchinnan and airport business parks including two new bridges across the White Cart river and a new route between Paisley Town Centre and Glasgow Airport.

Information about the new airport rail link, regarded as the flagship project of the City Deal, will also be available.

Renfrewshire council leader Mark Macmillan said: "Engaging with local people and businesses to keep them informed about the projects and hearing their views is an extremely important element to what we are doing.

"The Clyde Waterfront and Renfrew Riverside and other City Deal projects are the catalysts which can help to unlock the economic potential of communities across the city region."

People attending the events will have the chance to meet the project team and ask questions about the various projects being planned.

Consultation events will be held at Yoker Community Campus on Monday December 5, Paisley Town Hall on Tuesday December 6, Renfrew Town Hall on Wednesday December 7 and Clydebank Town Hall on Thursday December 8. They will all run from 11am until 7pm.

A short survey about the proposals will be available at the events and online at www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/citydeal to ensure everyone can provide feedback about the projects.
