Victory over long-time rival Novak Djokovic in the ATP World Tour Finals proved a fitting crown for the newly-minted world number one, who in the past 12 months has helped Great Britain win the Davis Cup team event, defended his Olympic singles title and become Wimbledon champion for the second time.
