A DRIVER had to pull an emergency stop after a child ran out on to the road because they had been left unsupervised, a court has heard.

Nadia Khan, 37. appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court after she pled guilty to leaving three young children in a car alone for around 30 minutes.

The Procurator Fiscal depute told the court that a passer-by spotted the children alone in the car because the alarm had gone off at Shawbridge Arcade and Ashtree Road on August 4.

The passer-by kept an eye on the car and watched as the three children left the vehicle.

One of the children ran on to the road forcing a car to stop.

The passer-by asked the children if there was an adult with them, and the children explained Khan, of Ladybank Drive, Mosspark, was in the library.

The passer-by then watched the children for around 20 minutes and there was no sight of Khan.

Police were contacted, and after they did a search on their system, they phoned Khan who returned back to the car.

She told officers she had been in the local tax office and had left the children because one of them was unwell.

The incident was described by Khan’s defence agent as an “isolated” one.

He added that his client recognised it could have had fatal consequences for the children.

Khan was admonished.
