AN Uddingston cafe owner has launched an appeal to fill Christmas stockings for the vulnerable and lonely.

Gail Gillon, owner of Jollytots and Cookies Cafe in Old Mill Road, will also be be opening on Christmas day, for those who have no one else to spend the day with.

She has created a shopping list with possible gifts that can be purchased, which will be given to those who need them on Christmas.

Posting on the Facebook page, Gail said: "At Jollytots and Cookies in Uddingston we are opening our doors on Christmas Day for free for anyone who is lonely, in poverty, suffering from addictions or homeless.

"We can arrange transport and we will have entertainers, hairdressers, beauticians and gifts.

"Please help to show people that we care."

Hundreds of people have offered to help after reading about her kind-hearted gesture.

Those who would like to get involved in the stocking appeal can find the shopping list here or visit the Facebook page for more information.
