A STUDENT from Bearsden is representing Scotland as she competes for the title of Miss World 2016.

Lucy Kerr, 19, who was crowed Miss Scotland 2016, flew to Washington DC last week to attend the pageant, which started on November 26.

So far she has been enjoying sightseeing and bonding with the other 119 other contestants who are battling for the crown on December 19.

The red-head has been representing her country, flying the saltire and wearing tartan, which can be seen on her social media accounts.

She posted on her Facebook page: "I can't thank you enough for your support so far and I am so grateful for everyone who votes! Let's go Scotland."
