COPS are probing a hit and run after a 21-year-old was left in a serious condition when he was struck by a car on Saturday night in Bishopton.
The victim was hit by the silver or grey Audi A1 when he was crossing Greenock Road near to its junction with Kingston Road at around 9.50pm.
Police say the car did not stop and continued in the direction of Renfrew.
The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he is being treated for his injuries.
Hospital staff describe his condition as serious but stable.
The road was closed whilst officers carried out their investigation.
Sergeant Kenny Malaney, of the Road Policing Department, Greenock, said: “The car failed to stop after it struck the pedestrian and extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace the car involved and its driver, however officers are following a number of lines of enquiry in relation to this incident.
“I would ask any witnesses to the crash, who have not yet spoken to police to come forward, and I would also ask anyone who may have seen a silver or grey Audi A1 being driven in the local area around the time of the crash on Saturday night to contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Greenock through 101.”
