A man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for a string of housebreakings and assualt in Lanarkshire.

Shaun Seawright, 26, was sentenced at Glasgow High Court today after being found guilty of several thefts by housebreaking and also an assault to severe injury.

All of the incidents occurred in the Lanarkshire area in 2015.

Detective Inspector Kevin Jamieson of Lanarkshire Police Division said: “Officers from Lanarkshire Division were involved in this enquiry since March 2015, gathering evidence in relation to Seawright and his crimes of housebreaking and threatening behaviour.

“Today’s result and sentencing shows a determination by Police and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service to work alongside our communities and relevant partners to tackle housebreaking and protect people’s homes and belongings from acquisitive criminals.”
