THERE are just hours left to nominate your Evening Times Scotswoman of the Year 2016.

The closing date for suggestions is tomorrow (Friday, December 9) so if you have not yet told us about the woman who inspires you, don’t leave it too late.

Since we launched our search, we have been inundated with nominations for contenders for the prestigious title.

Evening Times Editor Graham Shields said: “It has been fantastic to hear about the incredible women making a difference in our readers’ lives.

“The stories have been moving and uplifting and our judging panel members have their work cut out for them.

“Who can follow in the footsteps of women like Adele Patrick, founder and tireless champion of Glasgow Women’s Library , or Cara Henderson, who stood up to bigots and really changed attitudes to sectarianism across Scotland?”

He added: “The answer is probably sitting next to you at work, or living in your street, or working hard behind the scenes in your community.

“Ordinary women, doing extraordinary things often in the toughest of circumstances, are out there making a difference and we would love to hear about them.”

Whether she is a celebrity you admire or a business leader inspiring a generation; a medical pioneer saving lives or a compassionate carer, we want to hear about the woman you think deserves our title.

Previous winners of the event, which is generously supported by St Enoch Centre, have changed laws and saved lives.

They have raised hundreds of thousands pounds for causes close to their heart and beaten injustice.
