A BRAVE four-year-old was one of dozens of sick children treated to a trip of a lifetime before Christmas.
Cancer patient Aimee Conn, from Glasgow, joined 49 other children to take part in the Lapland trip this week.
Little Aimee has retinoblastoma – a type of cancer which affects the eye – and the trip gave her and her family a chance to escape their day-to-day difficulties and create memories during the festive season.
The trip got off to a flying start with a plane ride where kids and their families sang along to festive tunes including Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer.
When they arrived, the group was taken to a forest where they were met by elves and woodland creatures, who challenged them to snowball fights and sleigh races.
Her mum said: “Aimee is now in remission, which is fabulous news for us all, especially following a period of intense treatment in Birmingham. Being able to bring Aimee to Lapland is the ultimate silver-lining following the time she has had. She was very excited to meet Santa.”
The charity raised around £90,000 to charter the Lapland flight, by holding events and fundraisers throughout the year.
Olivia Wood, corporate fundraiser at WYWUAS, said: “Our Lapland trip is extraordinary, as it gives the ultimate gift of smiles and happiness for children and families who are most in need.”
