More than 40,000 Glasgwegians have flocked to Cineworld in Renfrew Street as the result of its 4DX transformation.

Over the last four months the 4DX, Superscreen and VIP Experience has led to 26 sold out screenings across the three new offers, resulting in a strong increase in sales.

For 4DX, with over 773 effects per film, the cinema has coordinated over 8,000 4DX effects for Glasgow cinema-goers, putting viewers right in the heart of the movie.

To date audiences have experienced on average:

400 movements felt

240 air effects blown

81 backs tickled

39 rain storms dropped

13 scents smelt per film

This is separate to the nearly 60,000 hours of movie magic that Cineworld has screened in 4DX, Superscreen and VIP Experience, since August 2016.

Glasgow Times:

Mike Wiles, General Manager at Cineworld Glasgow Renfrew Street said: "So far nearly 40,000 people have come through our doors to experience 4DX, Superscreen and the VIP Experience at Cineworld Glasgow Renfrew Street since opening over autumn, and we’re absolutely thrilled with the response so far!

"We are now excited to be showing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in all formats, giving customers the full choice on how they choose to see the movie."

The 4DX auditorium houses 136 specially designed seats, plus a curved screen measuring 11.6m by 5.0m – bigger than a double decker bus. The seats move in sync with the action on screen, making viewers feel that they are in the movie.

The VIP Experience starts from the moment guests walk through the doors, with welcoming staff to greet them as soon as they arrive at the exclusive private lounge ahead of their movie screening.

The private lounge and bar area leads directly into three intimate screens fitted with a total of 159 luxurious ‘lazy boy’ style reclining seats and individual tables. Guests will be able to relax in the lounge and enjoy a delicious buffet before their movie starts. Light food will be prepared by a local chef, with unlimited soft drinks and guests’ favourite cinema snacks all included. There will also be a private bar where guests can purchase a variety of alcoholic drinks.

The 18-screen cinema also received a complete upgrade with a new bar, a Starbucks coffee shop and a Superscreen installed, which includes a wall to wall screen reaching the ceiling, dual projectors giving a brighter 3D experience and breath-taking multidimensional sound with Dolby Atmos speakers, powered by 32 amplifiers.
