A MASKED thug burst into a post office and demanded money from a terrified shop worker during a raid in Larkhall.

Police have launched a probe following the attempted robbery on Friday, December 23.

They say at around 9.15am, a man entered the Strutherhill Post Office in Scotia Crescent, Larkhall where he threatened a member of staff and demanded money.

The suspect, however, left empty handed.

He is described as white, around 5' 7" in height, slim build and around 30 years of age.

He was wearing a Parka style jacket, the upper half of which was coloured royal blue, with a white stripe across the chest area.

The lower half of the jacket was navy blue in colour, with a fur lined hood.

He was wearing dark coloured trousers, dark coloured trainers with a white sole and he tried to conceal his identity by wearing a balaclava.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and are gathering CCTV footage for review.
