A MAN who was jailed after he kicked off in a bookies was urged by a sheriff not to touch anymore illicit substances.

James Michael McGuire Livingstone, 39, appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court after pleading guilty to behaving an aggressive or threatening manner at the Ladbrokes Bookmakers on Hillington Road South on December 1.

Livingstone, of Paisley Road West, refused to leave the bookies when he was asked to do so by members of staff and he challenged other customers to a fight during the incident.

He also accepted that in the aftermath, he spat at a female police officer.

He also spat at a female sergeant at Govan Police Station.

Livingstone's defence agent told the court that it all went wrong for his client because he took illicit Diazepam which had a stronger effect than normal.

The court also heard that Livingstone has an extensive criminal record.

Livingstone addressed sentencing Sheriff Kenneth Hogg after he said he had no choice but to jail him.

Livingstone said: "I know I blew it."

He was jailed for four months which was reduced from six months because of his early plea.

His sentence was backdated to December 5 when he was first remanded.

Sheriff Hogg told Livingstone: "The best thing you can do when you come out the next time is don't take any illicit substances."

Livingstone replied: "Nae bother."
