A LOCH is being trawled in the search for a man who went missing this morning.

Gavin Wilson was last seen around 10am today on Main Street in Blantyre, driving his green Peugeot.

The car has been recovered by police close to Stewartfield Loch and officers are now searching the water as a precaution.

Investigators say there is no information to suggest the 54-year-old has come to harm, but have appealed to the public to check their sheds and outhouses for Gavin.

Glasgow Times:

He is described as around 6ft 2in tall with short hair and a beard. He is well built with tattoos on his arms, chest and legs.

When he was last seen he was wearing a black hoodie, denim jeans and black shoes.

Inspector George McCutcheon from Hamilton Police Office is appealing for information and said: "Gavin has been missing before, but the manner in which he disappeared this morning, without contacting family, is very unlike him.

"There are growing concerns for his wellbeing. Police have discovered his car in an area close to the Stewartfield Loch and officers are currently searching the wider area.

"We would ask local residents to check sheds and outhouses and to contact police if you see someone matching the description of Gavin.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hamilton police on 101.
