A MAN was rushed to hospital after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest in the early hours of the morning in North Glasgow.
Police rushed to the scene after the 65-year-old was targeted at around 3.50am on Maryhill Road, Maryhill on Thursday, January 5.
He was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary by ambulance to be treated for chest injuries.
Residents in Maryhill woke up on Friday morning to police tape surrounding the area where the incident happened which is close to Ruchill Street.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "It was around 3.50am on Thursday, January 5, Police were called to a report of a 65-year-old man having been seriously assaulted on Maryhill Road.
"The man was taken by ambulance to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to chest injuries."
Police Scotland also confirmed that they have arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with an alleged serious assault.
He was expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday.
