POLICE investigating an early morning raid on a Glasgow restaurant have reviewed CCTV images in the area in a bid to snare the robbery duo who made off with a four-figure sum of money.

The Evening Times reported yesterday that thieves carried a safe out of Bungo Bar and Kitchen during the 6.30am raid on Monday before making off in a getaway car.

It is understood the robbery duo broke into the restaurant on Nithsdale Road, Strathbungo, using a crowbar via the back door.

They then headed to the office where the safe was situated.

They lifted the safe to their car which was parked in the back lane.

No-one was in the restaurant when it was targeted.

Cops in the Gorbals who are investigating the robbery have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and reviewing CCTV images in the area.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Enquiries carried out so far have revealed that around 6.30am on Monday morning, two men and a dark coloured car were in a layby near to the bar.

"Officers are appealing for anyone with information to contact them, in particular, the two men who were in the layby are asked to contact police as they may have significant information which could assist with the investigation.

"Anyone with information is asked to call officers at Gorbals Police Office via 101. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously."
