THE sounds of the pipes and drums have been flying the SSE Hydro as the Glasgow Tattoo got under way.

Running until Saturday, the spectacular will see performers come together from Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic Of Ireland, Germany, Spain and The Netherlands.

The Massed Pipes and Drums of The Glasgow Tattoo which will include Lomond & Clyde Pipe Band, City Of Glasgow Pipe Band, National Youth Pipe Band Of Scotland and Strathendrick Pipe Band.

Colin Wasson, Producer The Glasgow Tattoo said: “We are very much looking forward to adding to the culture and spectacle of Glasgow and welcoming people from all over Scotland and beyond to join us at The Hydro.”

More than 600 performers are taking part and the Tattoo will showcase some of the finest marching bands, musicians, and dancers from across Scotland, Ulster and Europe, in a three hour show, building up to the Grand Finale of the Massed Pipe And Drums.

The Band Of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, are the headline act for 2017, who are world-renowned for their musicianship and precision marching performance.

Their appearance will mark their debut Tattoo performance in Glasgow, following their performance at The Belfast Tattoo in 2015.

Other highlights for the 2017 Glasgow Tattoo include the first UK Tattoo performance by Fascinating Drums, together with an 80-strong dance troupe of Highland dancers and GeIrish dancers.

The 2017 Glasgow Tattoo will contain a packed list of international, as well as local performers.
