A MAN who told police he was allergic to Celtic fans has avoided a prison sentence.
Brian Jones, of Yate Street, Barrowfield, was caught snooping around an Argos van at the store on Biggar Street on November 12, 2016.
Staff noticed the 38-year-old peering into two vans and called police.
Attending officers questions the accused what he was doing to which he replied “I was just looking to see what I could get.”
He was later found to have Class A drug diamorphine in his possession and was taken into police custody.
While being questioned by officers as to if he was allergic to anything, he replied that he was allergic to “F*****, Celtic fans and Catholics”.
Sheriff Cameron told the accused that it was obvious to him that sending Jones to prison would be the “easy option” and instead handed him a community payback order including two years supervision.
