JAMES McAvoy revealed that he begged Irvine Welsh to write him an acting part in Trainspotting 2.
The Glasgow-born star was hoping for a cameo as Bruce Robertson, the corrupt Edinburgh detective he played in the film of Welsh’s book Filth.
McAvoy tried to convince Trainspotting 2 executive producer to introduce him into the film, which is released on Friday.
He said: “I kept going, ‘Go on, write me into Trainspotting 2 as Bruce,’ but that never happened.
“Filth was the favourite film I have ever done. It was a very personal thing, strangely.
“If they ever film part 2, I’d be interested in reprising the role.”
