A YOUNG Ayrshire woman has launched an online social media appeal in an efffort to locate a kind stranger from Glasgow who returned her missing card wallet.

Adelle McNeil, 24, from Kilmaurs in East Ayrshire was travelling on a Kilmarnock to Glasgow Central ScotRail service on Monday, January 16 when a short time after arriving in the city she realised her wallet containing bank cards and other important personal details was missing.

Adelle, who celebrates her birthday this week, was convinced her wallet was lost forever and her celebratory plans would have to be cancelled - along with the missing cards.

But on Saturday she received an unexpected package in the post.

A good Samaritan from Glasgow, known only as Helen, found Adelle's card wallet on the train and not only posted it to her, but also contacted the young woman's bank to inform them of her find.

In a letter enclosed with the card wallet, Helen identifies herself as a lecturer at a Glasgow university, but does not give her surname or any way to contact her.

Glasgow Times:

On Saturday, Adelle took to Facebook to share the good news. In her post she said: "I basically don't cry for anything, but this is such a nice thing that I'm in tears. This lovely woman who doesn't know me sent me all my cards back, and cancelled my card for me.

"What a kind, beautiful soul. I was planning on sitting in instead of going out for my birthday because I had no ID, and I was stressing about having to replace everything in my card wallet.

"I just want her to know that I'm so thankful and I hope she sees this."

Adelle asked all her friends to share the post as she desperately wants to thank Helen in person for her kindness.
