The stars of the award-winning time travel series Outlander were yesterday (Mon) spotted filming scenes in a sleepy fishing village.

Hollywood actress Caitriona Balfe, 37, and co-star Sam Heughan, 36, were filming while dozens of nosy villagers looked on the coastal film set.

The Irish actress could be seen playing with her mobile phone at Dunure Harbour, Ayrshire, while wearing a grey woollen coat.

And Sam Heughan, who plays Highland warrior Jamie Fraser in the series, was decked out in a warm woollen jacket topped off with a 1800s hat called a tricorne.

The stars are filming for the third series of the hugely popular show which has gained a cult following in the USA.

Scotland's tourism agency VisitScotland predicted last year that the show, which streams in the UK on Amazon Prime, would lead to large numbers of visitors to the country by fans.
