Franz Ferdinand are hoping to raise cash for a fellow musician’s cancer treatment by offering fans the chance to own a piece of Scottish music history.

The Scottish indie band are auctioning off one of their touring drum kits, used between 2009 and 2013, and two limited edition vinyl records, 'Franz Ferdinand Covers E.P.' and 'Late Night Tales', as part of the Greg Gilbert charity auction.

Greg, lead singer of indie darlings The Delays, was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer last year and is trying to raise £100,000 to travel to America or Germany for treatment.

His band supported the Scots art rockers during their 2004 tour.

Drummer Paul Thompson says that the seven piece kit, which has already received five bids, is one of his favourites and enjoyed a starring role during their tours.

He said: "The kit was divided into two sets, one for me and another was set up at the front of the stage for the final section of the song 'Outsiders' where all four of the band played drums."

It was also used by the band during an appearance on the David Letterman Show.
