ONE unwitting lottery player is sitting on a golden ticket but has just days left to claim their prize.

The lucky millionaire from South Lanarkshire has so far failed to cash in their winning ticket, worth £1m.

If the prize is not claimed by February 23, the cash and all the interest it has generated will be put towards National Lottery-funded projects across the country.

The one-off draw on August 27 2016 was held to thank National Lottery players for the support they have given Team GB through playing the game.

It revealed a winning Lotto Raffle Millionaire code of GREY 8746 6648.

Players from Cambuslang Rugby club have joined together to urge locals to double check their tickets for the winning combination in the Lotto Millionaire draw.

The club, which received £565,000 of National Lottery funding to help cover the cost of their new clubhouse in 2000, took a break from their training session to help lottery staff appeal for the winner to come forward.

Club President Graham Lennox said: “With the help of National Lottery funding, this significantly helped cover the cost of our clubhouse. We now offer a range of classes and opportunities for people in the local area to participate in rugby training and games. National Lottery funding continues to be an invaluable resource for our club, and South Lanarkshire’s wider sporting community.

“Our team’s delighted to support the hunt and hope we find that lucky ticket-holder. As a club we already feel like lottery winners due to the National Lottery funding we have enjoyed, now let’s find that other lottery winner in South Lanarkshire.”

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery said: “We’re eager to find the South Lanarkshire mystery ticket-holder and unite them with their winnings – this amazing prize could really make a huge difference to somebody’s life.”
