Glaswegians who have been looking forward to being chased by zombies throughout the city centre will be disappointed to learn the event has been postponed.

Organisers of the Zombie Run/Rundead night - for which people had paid £28 per ticket - have today issued a statement on the official website.

The event had been scheduled to take place on February 25th.

In the message, organisers cited “planning issues and mistakes” for the postponement, and added: “We unfortunately have to postpone events again. We apologise for the inconvenience and are sorry that its [sic] been left this long.

“We have to push Glasgow back as we are not yet ready to launch the event. When we first had the idea for the event, [we] do not think we realised how much work was actually needed to plan and organise this event, especially with the interest shown.

“The original venue we were going to use turned out to be too small due to the number of people then signing up. We spread ourselves too far, listed too many events, and we got swallowed up by it all and buried our heads in the sand.

“We have made a lot of mistakes and let things get too far. We left things far too late and last minute, we thought we had it covered and we were mistaken. We know we have now caused major damage to the name and event, but we are going to carry on and prove that we can successfully hold an amazing event.”

The Manchester run - originally scheduled for January 7th and then February 18th - has also been postponed “due to lack of numbers.”

Organisers explained: “There were less than 45 people signed up so we could not afford to hold the event. This number of people would not have even covered basic insurance and hire costs.”

Insisting that “we want to make it up to everyone,” the statement continued: “We will do all we can to do so. Please bear with us as we have also lost our whole email database due to the switching over to the new name etc.

“We are trying to sort our issues out asap. We will be looking to confirm new dates shortly, and again, we will do all we can to make it right with everyone.”

The website’s ‘contact us’ and ‘book now’ pages are no longer active.

One disgruntled fan told Glasgow Live he felt “angry and confused,” adding: “I have paid out money but have nothing to show for it.”

The site added that no refunds have been offered to those who have booked, and that organisers have not responded to customer queries over the postponements either.

Glasgow Live added that it has made attempts to contact the organisers, and that customers have also moved to take action by contacting police as well as the Action Fraud office also.
