SERIAL thieves who stole paint brushes from an industrial unit have avoided jail.

James Main, 40, and Brian Wallace, 49 , both appeared in the dock from custody for sentencing at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

The pair, who both live in Barrowfield’s Law Street, plead guilty to several thefts.

They accepted that they stole paint brushes worth £120 from the Paint Shed on Alma Street on December 9, last year.

The court heard no recovery was made.

The shoplifting duo then targeted Tesco Parkhead several times throughout December, last year.

They stole goods worth £83.35 from the supermarket on December 9. The next day, they made off with a haul worth £76.

They finally stole £202 worth of items on December 12.

The court heard that full recovery was made.

Main’s defence agent told the court that his client has difficulties with gambling and drug misuse.

Wallace defence agent told the court that his client understand the position that he has put himself in.

Main was told to complete 160 hours of unpaid work within six months and placed under supervision for 12 months.

Wallace case was referred to the drugs court and he will undergo a Drug Treatment and Testing Order.
