MURDER cops today continue their investigation into the death of a Castlemilk man who was subject a brutal and violent attack within his own home.

John Cameron's body was discovered by a friend in his home in Stonebank Grove at around 2.15pm on Friday.

Tributes poured in from those who knew him within the Castlemilk community.

Ann Bennett said: "So sad. RIP John. Thoughts are with your family and friends, and I hope justice gets done."

Trudy Coyle added: "Shine bright wee Cammy."

The murder is the second within a week in the city with cops still probing the death of Possilpark man Steven Russell who died after being found seriously injured on Bardowie Street on February 10.

A post mortem examination is expected to take place on Mr Cameron's body in due course.

Detectives, however, are currently carrying out a number of enquiries in the area including speaking to local residents and examining CCTV footage.

Yesterday, cops could be seen combing an area of bushes outside the property in a bid to find clues which could help catch the killer.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Livingstone, from Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Teams, said there may have been a disturbance in the property prior to to the murder.

He appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

He said: “If you were in Stonebank Grove or the surrounding area on the evening of Thursday, February 16, particularly between 9pm and 11.30pm, and saw anything suspicious please get in touch.

"No matter how insignificant you think your information may be, let us be the judge of that, as it could prove to be vital in helping us find the person responsible for this horrific crime.

Meanwhile, police have said they are treating the death of a 23-year-old man who was found dead last week as not suspicious.

Christopher Adams, from East Kilbride, was found in a property in Chapelton, South Lanarkshire on Thursday, February 9 at 11.30am.

A post mortem examination has been carried out and the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
