A WOMAN has appeared in court charged with attempting to murder her mother.
Helena Happell, 41 and her co-accused Mary Hawthorn, 32, allegedly carried out the murder bid on Lorretta Happell on February 17, at a property on Great Western Road, Glasgow.
Happell is also charged with sending text messages that were “grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character” to the 58-year-old between October 15, 2016 and October 27, 2016.
Both women appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday where they made no plea or declaration and were remanded in custody.
Papers from the court claim Happell made threats of violence, threatening to murder her mum and cause her injury with a hammer.
Prosecutors claim that on February 17, this year, Happell and Hawthorn repeatedly hit Mrs Happell with “a knife or similar instrument” then wrapped a wire wire around her neck and attempted to strangle her.
Both women will appear for a full committal hearing next week.
