The latest highly infectious vomiting bug sweeping the nation has been reported in schools across the country.

Shigellosis causes chronic diarrhoea and sickness.

Symptoms include:

  • Watery diarrhoea (which is sometimes bloody)
  • Stomach ache
  • Fver and sometimes vomiting

It can take from one to three days for the symptoms to develop after being infected and symptoms usually last for three to seven days.
