A GREENOCK man needed stitches after being assaulted and robbed in his own home.

The 40-year-old was rushed to hospital after two men set upon him within a property in Sir Michael Street on Saturday night, reports the Greenock Telegraph.

The pair barged into the house when the door was opened to them and smashed a mirror over his head.

Detective Constable Sharon Crawford of Greenock CID said the robbery happened at 10.15pm.

She said: “Two unidentified males forced their way into the flat. They pushed past the householder’s partner who opened the door.

“They assaulted the man, they used a mirror in the house and smashed it over his head. They stole items from him before making off.

“Police and ambulance attended and the victim was taken to 
hospital where he received stitches to facial injury.”
Detectives are appealing for information.

They say the first man is 5ft 6 ins tall and was wearing a grey cap and dark clothing. The second is 6ft and was also wearing dark clothing.

DC Crawford said: “If anyone was aware of a disturbance or seen anyone acting suspiciously, we would ask to contact Greenock CID.”
