Aspects of an internal investigation within Scotland's biggest council have been raised with police.
An audit at Glasgow City Council led to concerns over alleged "procurement irregularities" and the awarding of contracts to companies linked to senior council staff, The Times reported.
The council confirmed last year an investigation was being carried out and Police Scotland said details are being considered.
A force spokeswoman said: "A matter has been raised to police and inquiries are at an early stage to assess this information."
The claims reportedly relate to the land and environmental services department where the executive director stepped down last year.
A council spokesman said: "The head of audit and inspection has been carrying out an investigation, as the council confirmed on May 20, 2016.
"It would be inappropriate to comment further while that investigation is ongoing."
