COME rain or shine, Glasgow’s avid runners turn out in their numbers for the city wide parkrun’s.

Out at Garscadden Woods East, Drumchapel, over 40 runners took on the challenging route.

The 5k course mixes tarmac and gravel paths, with challenging hills along the way, but provides a fantastic setting for an early morning run.

Salena Begley MBE, is one of the Run Directors involved in the organisation.

She said: “parkrun’s are so great because they are inclusive for everyone.

“You don’t need to be the fittest person to come along, it’s really welcoming for everyone of all ages and abilities.

“It was only my second stint as Run Director last week but I had great support from everyone

“I enjoy participating because it is a fun, free activity we can participate in as a family, whether running or volunteering or both.

“My children and I have become members of the friendly parkrun community.

“Also as someone who grew up in Drumchapel I believe it will be a great development for the people in the area, and something they have a lot to offer too. “

All parkrun’s are free to take part in.

The Drumchapel event takes place at Garscadden Woods East, Drummore Road, every Saturday at 9.30am and is followed by a post parkrun coffee in St. Mark’s Church Café.
