RESIDENTS in Glasgow's West End are being warned about a bogus caller in the area claiming to work for the "water board".

Scottish Water say a resident in Kelvinside's Baronald Drive was targeted on Tuesday, February 21.

The bogus workman claimed to be from the “water board” and said he required access to the property to check internal pipes.

The householder refused the man access.

Scottish Water is reminding customers to be aware of bogus callers, and to use the 3 ‘C’s rule of card, check and call to beat these callous conmen.

Joanna Peebles, Scottish Water’s regional communities team manager for the area, said: "Our own workers are highly visible and unfortunately there are occasionally people who take advantage of the essential work we do by posing as bogus water employees.

"So we would like to remind all our customers of our essential advice – if we knock on your door, check our photo ID and follow our Three C’s rule: Card – Check – Call."
