THE inspiration behind a lifeline service for seriously ill children has been named 54th Evening Times Scotswoman of the Year.
Laura Young, whose own daughter Verity died at just eight years old, set up the Teapot Trust art therapy charity to help struggling families.
It is now a nationally respected service in hospitals, hospices and clinics around Scotland and the UK.
Laura accepted the trophy at a glittering awards dinner, supported by St Enoch Centre, in the City Chambers last night.
She said: “I’m overwhelmed - all the finalists were amazing. I dedicate this award to female friendship.”
A second trophy, the Editor’s Award, was collected by May Mancini on behalf of her daughter Francesca, who died last year.
Writer and former Makar, Liz Lochhead was guest speaker and singer songwriter Horse rounded off the evening with a sensational performance.
