A MAN issued a tirade of abuse at a pensioner after she reversed her car towards him in a supermarket car park.

William Dodwell, 38, was in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to shouting and swearing at the 69-year-old woman.

He accepted that he also acted in an aggressive manner during the incident which happened in Asda Robroyston’s car park on January 6, this year.

The Procurator Fiscal depute told the court that the woman was reversing out of the space and stopped when she felt her vehicle had made contact with something.

When she left her car to enquire, she came into contact with Dodwell who became extremely aggressive towards her and began shouting.

He said: “You’re a stupid old c*** and shouldn’t be f****** driving.

“Are you f****** deaf? I beeped my horn at you three times.”

The court heard the incident was witnessed by members of the public, and his victim felt extremely embarrassed and intimidated.

Dodwell’s defence agent described the incident as “a gross and inappropriate reaction”.

He said the difficulty for his client is managing his anger issues.

Dodwell, of East Springfield Terrace, Bishopbriggs, was fine £500 which was reduced from £750 because of his early plea.
