SHOPPERS couldn’t believe their eyes after young dancers took over a Glasgow supermarket.

There were pirouettes by the pastries and tapping dancing past the tomatoes before a final conga around the carrots.

A group of students from the Dance School of Scotland wowed crowds in Anniesland Morrisons with a surprise flash mob.

And pupils from Knightswood Secondary carried out a charity bag pack before joining in with the conga line.

Youngsters from the National Centre of Excellence for Dance and Musical Theatre, based at Knightswood Secondary, hid themselves in various places around the grocery store.

Dressed in school uniform, they looked like ordinary pupils out on a break from class.

Then, when no one was expecting it, the groups burst into a loud rendition of Is This The Way To Amarillo.

And to make sure shoppers - and staff - were fully involved in the experience the talented students grabbed passers-by for a congo around the grocery aisles.

The stunt yesterday afternoon was in aid of children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

To raise cash, Knightswood Secondary pupils packed bags for shoppers before the flash mob took off.

The Dance School of Scotland prepares talented young people for a career in theatre with ballet and musical theatre classes as part of the school curriculum.

It sends graduates as far afield as the Rambert in London, the Bolshoi Ballet in Russia and the prestigious Julliard School in New York.
