A PENSIONER has died in hospital following a road crash.

The 69-year-old woman was the passenger in a car which was involved in a crash with a single decker bus in Wishaw at around 1.40pm on Friday, January 27.

Police say the westbound Nissan Micra collided with the rear of a stationary green and white single decker bus at the roundabout on the A721 Glasgow Road near to its junction with Netherton Street.

The driver of the Micra, a 49-year-old man, was not injured.

The female passenger, who had been sitting in the rear seat, sustained serious injuries.

She was taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment.

She died on Tuesday, February 21.

A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The 59-year-old driver of the bus was not injured and neither were any passengers on board.

Sergeant Stewart Dyer, Motherwell Road Policing Unit, said: ”At the time, the crash may have seemed minor and people might have thought there was no need to speak to police, however, now that the lady has died, we need to speak to anyone who was either on the bus at the time or who may have seen the crash happen.

“Anyone with information can contact the Road Policing Unit at Motherwell via 101.”
