SADIQ KHAN has made changes to his speech to the Scottish Labour conference following outrage at his comparison of Scottish nationalism to racism.
In a modification to a draft of his speech released earlier, the Mayor of London told conference delegates that: "of course I'm not saying that nationalists are somehow racists or bigoted".

Khan, Labour's most powerful elected politican drew widespread criticism for claiming there is little difference between voting for Scottish independence and “trying to divide us on the basis of background, race or religion”.

He also went on to compare the SNP to divisive politicians such as President Donald Trump.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon Tweeted this morning in reaction to the comments: "it is an insult to all those Scots who support independence for reasons of inclusion & social justice - the antithesis of what he says and it is a sign of the sheer desperation and moral bankruptcy that has driven so many from Scottish Labour's ranks."
