Fans of some good old Scottish banter will be over-the-moon to learn everyone’s favourite unemployed, Glaswegian slob is set to hit the big stage.

Fresh from the massive success that was Still Game Live at the SSE Hydro, the cast of Rab C Nesbitt will be following in the comedic pensioners’ footsteps with their own show.

Elaine C Smith - who plays Rab’s wife Mary Doll - has confirmed the script has been written, and that some dates are already being scheduled.

The actress - who first starred in the show alongside Gregor Fisher in 1988 - described the Still Game shows as “a fantastic idea” and revealed how she asked Rac C Nesbitt writer Ian Pattison: “Hey, how are we no doing that?”

Speaking to the Record, Smith continued: “It would be the last chance to see us all back together.

“It would be great to do, but only if it gives people a good night out.

“It has to be honest and uplifting and daft, but also dark because Nesbitt always had something to say about the human condition, not all of it pleasant.”

Final dates have yet to be confirmed, although Smith added that “it’s nearer now than it has ever been.”
