TATTIE enthusiasts headed to Glasgow’s East End yesterday to sample some of the best potatoes from across the country.
The city’s annual Potato Day too place in the Reidvale Neighbourhood Community Centre in Dennistoun.
The event, which is now in its sixth year, showcased 50 varieties of potatoes from across Scotland.
Organiser Sandra Quadrelli said: “The event gets more and more popular every year.”
She added: “Potatoes are very easy grow and most people enjoy potatoes.They also enjoy trying the different varieties of potatoes. You don’t have have to have a garden or an allotment to grow potatoes. You can grow them in a bag on your balcony.”
The Arran Pilot potato was again one of the most popular at the event.
Sharon said: “Scotland grows the best sweet potatoes in the world and it brings a lot of money to our economy. I don’t think Scottish people realise how much the humble tattie brings in revenue.”
