T in the Park will be restricted to over 18s if the music festival returns to Scotland next year.

Geoff Ellis, chief executive of DF Concerts, is hoping that the popular music festival which began in 1994, will make a return to Strathallan Castle if an over 18s restriction is enforced.

Organisers announced the festival would be taking a break in November 2016.

The event faced public backlash after the death of two teenagers on the first day of the festival on July 8, 2016.

The body of father-of-three Jim Richardson was discovered in a field two days after the event, in Perthshire.

Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland, Mr Ellis said: "We do events all over Scotland and are always looking at sites but for T in the Park specifically, we are not looking at anywhere else at the moment.

"Let's make the campsite over 18s going forward.

"It does mean families can't come to the event like they have done."

"You do all you can when you are organising an event to try and keep people safe. You work closely with police and the authorities to try and manage audience behaviour."

Addressing their year out Geoff said: "The reasons we have taken a year out is to solve the issues placed upon us because of the planning consent.

“The planning constraints on us have been so onerous we have to fix those and it gives us an opportunity to address other issues".

This year, TRNSMT festival was unveiled as the replacement for T in the Park.

The three-day event will take place at Glasgow Green on Friday, July 7 to Sunday, July 9.
