AS part of our series on Glasgow’s parkrun’s, The Evening Times visited the Tollcross park where over 60 runners were gearing up for their weekly 5k.

With Storm Doris firmly behind them, the pavement pounders embraced the cold to conquer the hilly East End course.

Kicking off from the Winter Gardens, near the mini bandstand, the challenging route takes participants uphill for views of Glasgow and beyond.

68 people from across the city completed the course, with representatives coming from various running clubs including Shettleston, Cambuslang and Bellahouston Harriers,

Ryan Stewart from Shettleston Harriers crossed the finish line first, followed by a Tollcross parkrun first timer.

Ten-year-old Ruaridh Murdoch and mum Allison Martin completed their run in landmark time, both logging a new personal best.

Joining them was 13 parkrun enthusiasts who have notched up an impressive 100 runs.

Meanwhile, hundreds of runners were also starting their weekend with a run at parks in Springburn, Pollok, Drumchapel and Victoria Park.

Tollcross parkrun takes place every Saturday at 9.30am.
