A FATAL Accident Inquiry has ruled that a man who died while in custody had passed because of natural causes and nothing could have been done to save his life.
The FAI findings into the death of William Andrew Colclough were published yesterday.
He died at 48-years-old at Glasgow Royal Infirmary on December 20, 2015.
The Glasgow man was detained in custody in relation to two pending court cases on December 2 and thereafter on December 11, 2015.
The report states that he became unwell after returning from court on December 11 to Barlinnie.
Mr Colclough was kept under review overnight and then examined by a Barlinnie doctor the following day who requested that he was admitted to hospital.
He was diagnosed in hospital as suffering from pneumonia with associated septic shock and respiratory failure. The FAI also stated that Mr Colclough had been treated appropriately from falling ill on December 11 until his death nine days later.
