A PENSIONER is in a critical condition in hospital after a serious road crash.
The 80-year-old man was crossing Berryknowes Road in Cardonald around 10.30am yesterday when he was hit by a red Fiat 500.
The car was travelling south near the junction of Berryknowes Avenue.
He was immediately rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University hospital by paramedics, where he remains in a critical condition.
It is thought he stepped out in front of a bus which was stationary at a bus stop before he was hit by the car.
The driver was left uninjured but badly shaken as a result of the incident and the road was closed for several hours to allow for accident investigation.
Police say a number of buses are thought to have been in the area at the time, and they are looking to speak to drivers and passengers who may have information about the crash.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Nicola Taylor from the Road Policing Unit at Helen Street via 101.
