A MAN stalked his ex-neighbour for several months because he was infatuated with her, a court has heard.

Roderick MacIntyre, 53, was in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to engaging in a course of a conduct which caused the woman fear or alarm.

He plead guilty to attending at the woman’s home address in Glasgow’s West End on several occasions knowing that he was not welcome.

The stalking took place between November 4, 2014 and July 9, 2015.

MacIntyre’s charge sheet stated that he repeatedly followed and stalked the woman.

The Procurator Fiscal depute told the court that MacIntyre is an ex-neighbour of the woman and she moved out of her previous home address on August 2011.

The court heard that she did not tell MacIntyre, of Royal Terrace, Glasgow, where she was moving to.

On November 4, however, the woman returned home to find MacIntyre in her common close. She asked what he was doing there and he immediately left.

On December 21, the woman and her friend saw MacIntyre outside her home. He got in his car and drove away.

The next occasion she came across MacIntyre was May 21. He was standing in the common close again and this time he was challenged by the woman’s partner.

The woman saw McIntyre again at her home address on July 9.

The court heard one of the reasons he gave police for being at her home address was because he was infatuated with her.

MacIntyre’s defence agent told the court the case was “troubling” and his client recognised that.

The court heard that MacIntyre, who is an offshore worker, had been drinking too much in Byres Road and he came across the woman one night by chance on his way home.

MacIntyre’s defence agent said his client presented himself as an introvert and struggled to communicate but said he ultimately accepts his involvement.

He was fined £500 and ordered to pay compensation of £500.
