With the news the so-called Peru Two drug mules are in “advanced talks” to appear on Channel 5’s Big Brother, an LA-based social media guru for celebrities has now come forward to reveal how one of the two is likely to “definitely earn a decent amount of money.”

Brand expert Phil Pallen estimates that 24-year-old Michaella McCollum, from Northern Ireland, is likely to rake in up to £50,000 - and that’s just from a book deal.

Speaking to The Sun Online, Mr Pallen described how networks and publishers “pay close attention” for opportunities to “leverage people’s attention.”

He said: “I think it’s interesting that she’s been building a brand since the day she was named part of the ‘Peru Two’ - that’s a brand.

“Michaella’s focus now is likely on drumming up attention to stay on our radar.”

His comments came on the same day the newspaper revealed how reality TV producers are eager to have both McCollum and Melissa Reid, 24, from Lenzie near Glasgow, on Big Brother.

McCollum has been the most image-savvy of the two and has recently been pictured by several nationals parading on a Spanish beach in skimpy outfits.

A source close to McCollum told The Sun: “It’s all part of her bid to get her name out there in the lead up to returning to our screens - this time on an entertainment show, not BBC News.

“Big Brother producers have been chatting to her about getting her on the next series of the show, which is a pairs theme.”

The new theme is a first for the reality TV show in which producers have been seeking applications from two people, be they partners, friends, or relatives.

So far, it seems Evening Times readers are against seeing the pair on our screens.

In a poll on our site, we asked whether they would tune in to watch the show should McCollum and Reid enter the most famous house in Britain.

A massive majority has responded “no,” while only a small percentage said they would definitely tune in.

Both young women first shot to international notoriety in 2013 after being caught trying to smuggle 24lb (11kg) of cocaine worth £1.5 million out of Peru.

They were jailed for six years and eight months after admitting the crime, but were freed last year after making a deal with Peruvian authorities.
