EXTRA cops will be on patrol to reassure parents at an East End School after a man was allegedly attacked with a baseball bat.

Police Scotland confirmed that their officers will be pounding the streets near Garrowhill Primary School following the shock attack which happened on Monday.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident on Bakewell Road, just outside the school.

It happened at around 9am just as parents were dropping their children off at the school gates.

A 42-year-old man was taken to Glasgow’s Royal Infirmary for treatment after he was allegedly attacked with a baseball bat at the school gates.

Police Scotland said two men, aged 42 and 38, and a woman, 36, were arrested.

The men were expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court and the woman was released on undertaking.

The Evening Times understands that the alleged attack happened after a row over parking.

We previously reported on an illegal parking crackdown at the primary in a bid to stop motorists dropping kids off too close to school gates.

Residents are also stuck in their driveways due to parked cars which also put kids at risk on the roads.

Police in Glasgow's East End confirmed yesterday that they are working with the council to reduce parking issues around schools.

A spokesman said: "We're working with Glasgow City Council and local schools to reduce parking issues around those schools.

"Use designated parking areas only - avoid parking on kerbs/verges/paths - these need to be clear for use by children and other pedestrians.

"Don't park in an inconsiderate manner, i.e. don't block roads, paths, driveways or impact other road users."

The spokesman added: "Could you park five minutes away and walk the rest of the journey? Don't park somewhere that might risk the life of any child or adult."

Garrowhill Primary School has a designated drop off area for parents to use which Glasgow City Council says has been working really well.

Parents are encouraged to use this drop off area.
